Vaishno Devi Shrine

Decades ago a man named Sridhar discovered the Cave; he lived in Katra and was a great devotee of Mother Goddess. He was married but with no children and used to worship the little girls. One day Mata appeared in his dreams and revealed to him about the cave abode. Sridhar worshipped the Vaishno Devi shrine at the cave. He was blessed with four sons. Since then his descendants perform the daily ritual as pundits at the holy cave of Vaishno Devi shrine.

The idol of the main deity is found in the form of natural Pindies (stone structure), representing Goddess Saraswathi, Kali and Lakshmi. These three structures symbolize the creative, preservative and destructive characters of the Mother. While one takes a journey up the hill to the temple, one can enjoy natural beauty at its best.
